Duration of surgery: Depends on the desired reduction, between 3 - 8 min for each tonsil.
Anaesthesia: Local
A. For adults: The oropharynx is anaesthetised by a topical anaesthetic spray (such as lidocaine 10%). After several minutes, a local anaesthetic is injected into the superior junction of the anterior and posterior pillars, and the midportion of the anterior pillar.Begin after 5 min.
B. For children:Under general anaesthesia
METHOD OF USE:
Insert the Nasal Rupturer KE1831 attachment (activated by the foot pedal) to a depth of1 - 2 cm (depending on the size of the tonsils) into the points of the tonsil mass which you desire to reduce.
Keep the activated attachment there for 2 - 4 sec and then withdraw the attachment from the tonsil mass while the device is still in the active mode.
This may be repeated as many times and at any spot of the tonsil mass you wish, according to the extent of reduction you desire.
